Though I used to hear about Panna Cotta on TV shows, I was under the impression that it was something complicated. Only when I prepared it some time back did I realise that it was not at all complicated. It was an instant hit with us. The smooth and silky texture clubbed with the delicious taste makes it a winner.
I got this recipe from Finla’s blog, My Kitchen Treasures. The panna cotta recipes I have come across always have sauce as an accompaniment. But we enjoyed the Panna Cotta as it is.
Vanilla Panna Cotta
Source: My Kitchen Treasures
Ingredients
Milk- 1 cup
Heavy Cream- 1 cup (I used Amul Cream)
Sugar- 1/2 cup
Gelatin- 3 teaspoons
Water- 2 tablespoons
Vanilla essence- 2 teaspoons
Method
Take the water in a bowl and sprinkle the gelatin. Keep aside for a few minutes for the gelatin to soak up the water. In a saucepan, mix milk, cream, sugar and vanilla and boil while stirring constantly.
Melt the gelatin on very low heat till the gelatin dissolves completely. The gelatin-water mixture will turn liquidy as soon as it gets heated. Keep stirring. As soon as it is melts, add to the milk mixture and stir till well incorporated.
Pour into moulds/glass bowls. Cover with plastic wrap and refigerate for at least 3 hours till well set.
To serve, dip the bowls/moulds in hot water for a few seconds and tip out into the serving plate. You can serve with fresh fruits as well.

its so tempting mareena!i wnt to try this .but gelatin stops me from heading for it.which brand do u use?
Dear Anonymous, I am not sure which part of the world you are. If you are skeptical about using gelatin you could try agar-agar(same quantity).I have never used agar-0 agar. But after some search, this is what I found.Soak 1 tablespoon (3 teaspoons) of agar agar in 4 tablespoons of hot water(Appx 10 minutes).Bring it to the boil. Simmer till dissolved. Add to the remaining ingredients.Hope this helps
It was delicious….. came out really well…all of us enjoyed especially kids as it is too hot here today…..
Few months before I had tried one recipe…it was almost similar to this but the name was ‘Mousse Pudding’. instead of cream it was condensed milk.It is also served with fresh fruits mixed with lime and mint….
Graet going kunjumol..Soooo happy that you are trying almost everything
