Hearty Welcome to my blog. I am Mareena, a fun-loving person who happens to be a foodie as well. My love for food extends to my kitchen where I try out new dishes as and when possible. My other interests include music, dance (nay…am not trained in either), reading and a bit of gardening..
Hailing from Kerala and currently residing in Chandigarh, Agra, Hyderabad, India, our family consists of self, and my favourite Guinea pigs – my loving hubby Jerry and son Daryl. Jerry being on a transferable job, we get to travel all over the country, which gives us ample opportunities to experience different cultures and cuisines.
Though my experiments with cooking started way back when I was in the 7th class, the passion picked up pace after my son started to talk
You know how kids are.. (I admit that I shammed it out a bit…You see, this is the problem you face when your hubby is not so particular about variety when it comes to food…hehehe). I am sure there are quite a few mothers out there who have gone through the same stage as I. So here I am, still in the process of learning…a long way to go..
As the name suggests, this blog is a collection of recipes that I have been collecting over the years from friends and families, magazines and the net. Instead of running helter-skelter figuring out where I have stored a particular recipe, I thought a blog of our family favourite recipes can be maintained, so I know where to look for. These recipes are tried (sometimes with my own twist) and tasted and given a thumbs up..
Will be giving due credit to the source of recipes.
I hope you taste success with these recipes as I did!!

Glad you liked the pictures..thanks for appreciating..
Mareena, I need a help from you. I am hunting for oven from long time. I am new to baking. For cakes, cookies, pizzazs etc, will microwave with convection and grill work? I want an opinion for microwave. Some say microwave does not allow browning for biscuits and stuff. Is it true? Can you please help. Am so confused of much of information on internet.
Vini, An oven with microwave, grill and convection functions works perfectly. That’s what I have been using for years. The cakes cooked in microwave mode doesn’t brown. But when you bake biscuits cakes, cookies etc it browns absolutely fine as you can see in the pictures of my blog. Hope this helps you decide..
Thanks a lot Mareena! Can I ask which one do you use .Like how many litres, brand and things I should check. I am planing for lg (30 litres) covection+grill. We are 3 members.
Earlier I used to have LG Bar-B Cook. At present I have a Samsung (32 ltrs). Both are equally good. I would recommend you to have a look at the store and see for yourself. The design, use etc should be according to your taste and convenience. We had decided that it has to be either Samsung or LG.. If you are not particular about the brand, there are lot of options to choose from..I hope I didnt confuse you further
No Mareena, You actually cleared my doubts. Thanks a ton! I had visited stores so many times for microwave. No one cleared my doubts. I have asked this on several blogs too. Finally , I will buy microwave happily this diwali(without doubts, lol!) Thanks again!
Glad to have helped… You are welcome anytime

HI Vini,
Thanks a lot for appreciating my efforts. Will go through the link..Thanks again
Vini, Did you buy the oven??
Yes Mareena ,it is coming home this weekend. It is lg 3087. I am super-excited. Thanks for helping through. I am going to bake my first cake from your blog. Any suggestion for first timers?
well…any cake is fine for first timers provided you follow the recipe to the T. A few tips on baking would be to sieve the flour nad baking powder at least 4 times for uniform distribution. All the ingredient(including eggs) should be at room temp. Rest just follow the recipe..Do not forget to preheat the oven…Good luck ..:-)
Thanks Mareena. So sweet of you. Will follow the recipe and will soon have my first cake. Will let you know soon. Thanks again.
you are most welcome
