Aloo Matar (Stir fried Potatoes with Peas)

D likes potatoes and peas. So I didnt have to think twice when I wanted to make a Dry Side Dish. Turning my kitchen into a lab, I set about with the preparation of my dry version of Aloo Matar. Thankfully D loved it. Yay!!! 🙂

Aloo Matar (Stir fried Potatoes with Peas)

Aloo Matar
Ingredients
- 2 Potatoes diced
- 1 Onion Chopped
- 1/2 cup Green Peas
- 1/2 teaspoon Ginger paste
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic paste
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Chilli powder
- pinch Fennel seeds a
- 1/4 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- to taste Salt
- pinch Asafoetida a
Instructions
- Heat a pan with 2 teaspoons of oil.
- Add the cumin and fennel seeds.
- When they start to splutter, add the asafoetida and stir for a few seconds.
- Add the chopped onion and saute till translucent.
- Add the ginger garlic pastes and saute for a few minutes.
- Add the chilli and turmeric powder and mix well for 1 minute.
- Now add the potatoes and peas and mix well along with salt.
- Cover and cook, stirring in between, till the potatoes are cooked through.
Notes
This dish can be served with Rice as well as Chapathi/ Roti.
