Bhapa Doi (Steamed Yoghurt Pudding)

 

 

Bengali cuisine is known for its spread of confectioneries, mostly made of dairy products. Some of the popular sweets are Sondesh, Rosogolla, Rasmalai etc to name a few. Bhapa Doi is yet another sweet dish from Bengal. It is nothing but Steamed Sweetened Yoghurt. A very easy to prepare dessert.

Ideally the curd used should be firm, i.e without too much water. The strawberries seen in the picture is used just for garnishing. But tastes yum with the Doi. Here’s the recipe.

Bhapa Doi (Steamed Yoghurt Pudding)

Ingredients
  

  • 200 gms Curd
  • 200 gms Condensed milk Sweetened
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cardamom powder

Instructions
 

  • Mix all the ingredients together till well blended.Pour into a baking dish.
  • Take a bigger baking dish, half-filled with warm water.
  • Place into the oven and preheat to 180 C.Place the baking dish containing milk mixture inside the bigger dish.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or till the mixture is firm.Allow the mixture to cool.
  • Chill before serving.You can garnish the Doi with toasted nuts or sliced strawberries.
