Chocolate Stuffed Eggless Doughnut

It has been a while since I made Chocolate Stuffed Doughnuts. I followed the recipe of Eggless Doughnut that I got from the net and gave a slight twist by stuffing it with thick chocolate sauce. The doughnuts can be either fried or baked. I baked these doughnuts. Here's the recipe Chocolate Stuffed

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups All purpose flour
  • 1 Cup water Luke warm
  • 1 u2044 3 Cups Sugar
  • 4 teaspoons Yeast
  • 2 tablespoons butter Softened - (Room Temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
  • as required Chocolate sauce (can use chopped chocolate) (thick)

Instructions

  • Take the yeast in a glass and mix it in the water adding 1 tablespoon sugar to it. Keep it aside for 10 minutes or till it rises.
  • Take the flour, 1/3 cup sugar and salt in a bowl.
  • Add the risen yeast and vanilla essence to the flour mixture and knead it gently till you get a smooth and very soft dough. Add the softened butter and knead gently for 3 more minutes. Cover it with a plastic wrap and keep in a warm place to rise (approximately 30 minutes - 1 hour).
  • Once the dough has risen to double its quantity, knead it lightly again to take out the air. The dough would be little sticky at this stage, so keep extra flour handy as you may need to add some while kneading.
  • Dust the rolling pin and the rolling surface with flour and roll out the dough to 1 cm thickness.
  • Cut out circles of approximately 3 " diameter. Pour the thick chocolate sauce or chopped chocolate as seen in the picture. Carefully take the edge and bring to the centre and press to secure. Continue this till the entire portion with chocolate sauce/chocolate piece is covered. Using a bottle cap, cut off the middle portion to get doughnut shape.
  • Keep the cut out doughnuts on a flour dusted plate for rising for another 30 minutes or till it doubles in size.
  • For frying
  • Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan on medium heat. Test the oil by dropping in bits of dough. If the dough floats immediately after immersing, it means the heat is right.
  • Now gently drop the doughnuts into the oil one after the other. If the dough has risen enough, they would float immediately in the oil. Fry the doughnuts on a medium flame till it is golden brown by constantly flipping them over. Drain onto an absorbant paper. Glaze it according to your liking and serve warm.
  • For baking
  • Bake the dougnuts in a preheated oven of 200C for approximately 8 minutes or till it turns golden brown in colour.
