Daal Palak (Mung Bean Lentils with Spinach)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Mung Bean Lentils
  • bunch Spinach Chopped a
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • to taste Salt

For tempering

  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 - 3 green chillies Finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped garlic Finely
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1/2 tablespoon Coriander powder

Instructions
 

  • Cook the washed lentils with some salt, turmeric powder, spinach and adequate water till done.Keep the cooked dal aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds, when they start to splutter add the asafoetida and stir for a couple of seconds.
  • Add the chopped chilli and garlic and saute till the garlic turns slightly brown in colour.
  • Add the coriander powder and stir for a few seconds. Switch off the heat and add to the Dal mixture and mix well.
  • Serve hot with Rice or Roti.
