  1. Fry the onion till brown. Drain onto an absorbent paper. .
  2. Grind the onion along with ginger, garlic and chillies to a smooth paste. Keep aside. .
  3. Heat oil in a pan. .
  4. Add the cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon. .
  5. When it starts to crackle, add the ground paste and cook till the raw smell goes. .
  6. Add yogurt and mix well. .
  7. After a minute, add coriander powder, cumin powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder and chilli powder.
  8. Add salt and cook for a minute.
  9. Add the cream, cottage cheese and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well.
  10. Seal the pan with foil and put a lid on top.
  11. Reduce flame to low and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  12. Now open it and cook further if you like to dry it up. Add sugar if using. Sprinkle the garam masala powder.
  13. Switch off heat. Transfer to a serving dish.
  14. Garnish with chopped mint and coriander leaves. Goes well with any Indian bread.
