Dum Paneer Kali Mirch (Peppery Cottage Cheese Gravy)

Ingredients
- 250 gms Cottage cheese cubed
- 4 Cloves
- 4 cardamoms Green
- 1" piece Cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons Yoghurt
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon Pepper powder
- 3/4 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Chilli powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- to taste Salt
- 2 - 3 tablespoons Fresh cream
- 1 teaspoon Sugar (Optional)
- 1 onion Fried thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon Chopped ginger
- 1 teaspoon Chopped garlic
- 4 green chillies Chopped
Instructions
- Fry the onion till brown. Drain onto an absorbent paper. .
- Grind the onion along with ginger, garlic and chillies to a smooth paste. Keep aside. .
- Heat oil in a pan. .
- Add the cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon. .
- When it starts to crackle, add the ground paste and cook till the raw smell goes. .
- Add yogurt and mix well. .
- After a minute, add coriander powder, cumin powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder and chilli powder.
- Add salt and cook for a minute.
- Add the cream, cottage cheese and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well.
- Seal the pan with foil and put a lid on top.
- Reduce flame to low and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- Now open it and cook further if you like to dry it up. Add sugar if using. Sprinkle the garam masala powder.
- Switch off heat. Transfer to a serving dish.
- Garnish with chopped mint and coriander leaves. Goes well with any Indian bread.
