Easy Pressure Cooker Pulled Pork

Lately, Pulled Pork Burger has become one of the frequent demand from my boys. The regular way of making Pulled Pork is to slow-cook the pork for hours. I prefer the easy way of using Pressure Cooker. It saves a lot of time. You may use store-bought Barbecue Sauce, though I prefer to use the homemade version. You can find its recipe here.

Ideally Pork shoulder is to be used to make Pulled Pork. As we’re cooking in a pressure cooker, making into small cubes would help save the cooking time. As the cooking time varies according to the cut and quality of the meat, the best way to judge is to try cutting a piece using a fork/spoon. If the meat shreds without much effort, it is ready. If not, you need to cook it further. Some people aren’t particularly fond of the fat. But do try and include it as brings in more flavour to the dish.

Brown sugar is used in making Pulled pork. However, I wasn’t particularly satisfied with the quality of the brown sugar I had bought. Hence I switched to grated jaggery. You may use either one.

My way of making Pulled Pork Burger is with Homemade Burger buns, lettuce, a ladleful of the pulled pork, topped with some pickled onion 🙂 It’s Bliss !!!

Easy Pressure Cooker Pulled Pork

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg Pork shoulder cubed
  • 1/2 cup Barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tablespoon Mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar/Grated jaggery
  • 2 teaspoons Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 big Chopped onion

Instructions
 

  • Add all the ingredients to the pork
  • Mix well
  • Cover the lid and cook on low heat. (8-10 whistles)
  • Once cool, remove the lid and mash the pork using a spoon till well shredded.
  • The Pulled Pork is ready.
