Bacon Jam

I have always been drawn to trying out something new than preparing the usual menu. So I’m always on the lookout for that inspiration. This time, I was inspired by my little sister. During our chat session, she was going on about a unique jam she tasted. Bacon Jam. Though I’ve seen them on TV, I never got the opportunity to taste them. Naturally,it piqued my curiosity. As expected, next thing to do was to google for a recipe. I followed Martha Stewart’s recipe with minor tweaking. All of us loved it. You can use in sandwiches, burgers, rolls etc.

Eggless Moist Carrot Cake

One can find a lot of substitutes for egg, on the net. The list of substitutes includes curd, banana, flax seed powder etc. However, I was apprehensive of recommending something without actually trying it out. Few days back, while chatting with a friend of mine, she said that she was looking for an eggless version of Carrot Cake. I almost suggested to try my Moist Carrot Cake, but realised that I couldn’t possibly recommend without trying the eggless version myself. Having decided to follow the same recipe, I chose to use Flax seed powder as a substitute. The result was…

Chocolate Cookies

The other day, D requested me to make some Chocolate Cookies. As I had a recipe saved in my ‘to-do list’, I didn’t have to search for the recipe. The recipe I saved is from Allrecipes . However I tweaked it a bit. One thing I found intriguing in this recipe, was the mixing of hot water with soda. On further research, I found that this was done for two reasons. One is to activate the soda and the second reason was to ensure even distribution of the soda. Truth be told, I was a bit apprehensive, but went ahead…

Flower Bread with Apple filling

Ever since I saw the picture of this bread on a random post, I was itching to try this. All I had was the step-by step pictures of preparing it. In spite of searching the net I couldn’t get the recipe. So I decided to follow my gut feeling and experiment. I chose the eggless burger bun recipe as I love the taste of it. As for the filling, I decided to make some apple filling. Let me confess..I had a whole lot of butterflies in my stomach. I decided to make very less apple filling lest it went waste in case the bread didn’t come out good. The dough turned out to be way too soft to handle. So my first attempt didn’t quite achieve the desired look. As they say, “you learn from your mistakes” So the second time, I was a bit more careful in handling the dough. Voila !! It definitely got the look I hoped for. For a first attempt, I was pleased with the outcome. The next step was the taste test. Both J and D loved the bread so much that they were disappointed to find out that I had made only
