Lately, I have been thinking of ways to use up the Karaikudi Masala Powder in my pantry. So when I got some prawns, I didn’t have to think twice about what to make. Presenting my version of Karaikudi Eral Masala 🙂

Karaikudi Eral (Prawn) Masala

Lately, I have been thinking of ways to use up the Karaikudi Masala Powder in my pantry. So when I got some prawns, I didn't have to think twice about what to make. Presenting my version of Karaikudi Eral Masala 🙂 Karaikudai Eral (Prawn) Masala

Ingredients
  

  • 400 gms Prawns
  • 2 - 3 onion Sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Masala Karaikudi powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves

For Marination

  • 1 teaspoon Masala Karaikudi Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • to taste Salt

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the prawns with chilli powder, karaikudi masala powder, turmeric powder and salt. Keep aside for 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add the curry leaves and sliced onion.
  • Once the onion starts to brown add the Karaikudi masala and chilli powder.
  • Stir for a few seconds.
  • Tip in the prawns and cook on high heat, stirring continously.
  • Once the prawns curl up, lower the heat and cook for a few more minutes.
  • Switch off once the masala coats the prawns well.
  • Serve hot with rice.
  • This can be served as a starter as well.
