Minced Chicken Lettuce Wraps

The first time I had minced chicken lettuce wraps was during our trip to Thailand a few years back. This was probably the first dish I tried recreating once I was back from the trip. The best thing about this dish is the simplicity in its preparation. The burst of flavours when you take a bite of it cannot be explained.

Ideally lceberg lettuce or butterhead lettuce is to be used as the wraps. I used chinese cabbage as I had them in my refrigerator. This dish can be served as a starter or used as a meal, if you are on a diet. You can use any meat mince of your choice.

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan. Add the chopped onion.
  2. Saute till golden brown.
  3. Add the garlic paste and cook till raw smell goes.
  4. Tip in the green chillies and stir for a few seconds.
  5. Add the fish sauce and soy sauce.
  6. Add the chicken mince and mix well.
  7. Cook till the moisture evaporates and the chicken is cooked.
  8. Add the lime juice, chopped coriander and mint leaves and roasted cashewnuts.
  9. Mix well.
  10. Switch off heat.
  11. To Serve
  12. Take a clean and wiped lettuce. Put a spoonful of the chicken mixture. If you wish, you can pour the sauce of your choice. Wrap the leaf and eat.
