I have professed our love for seafood in my earlier post. During our recent trip to Kerala, we managed to get hold of some Crabs as well. Two things were on my mind at that time. One, our growling tummies and the second, you, my readers. Well..I had to put up one crab recipe at least. Had we not been so hardpressed for time, I would have cooked up more variety. As for this recipe, do I have to really explain how much we relished it??? I guess not.. 🙂 So here I am, sharing my Mom’s Crab recipe with you.

Ingredients
  

For Boiling

  • 1 kg Crab cleaned and cut into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic cloves crushed
  • 2 - 3 (Adjust according to your taste) / Kudampuli Gambooge
  • to taste Salt
  • Curry leaves

For Stir frying

  • 7 - 8 shallots
  • 4 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 4 - 5 Peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon Fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder powder
  • 1 Onion Chopped

Instructions
 

  • Put the cleaned crab along with the ingredients for boiling in an earthen pot with 1/4 cup water.
  • Cover and cook on low heat till the crab is well cooked and the water dries off.
  • Crush the shallots along with garlic, fennel seeds and peppercorns and keep aside.
  • In a pan, heat oil and saute the onions till they turn golden brown.
  • Add the crushed mixture and saute till the raw smell goes.
  • Add the chilli, coriander and turmeric powders and stir for a minute.
  • Add the crab and stir well.
  • Let cook for a couple of minutes, stirring in between.
  • Switch off the heat.
  • Transfer to a serving dish.Dig in!!! :-).
