Munching piping hot Pakoras and sipping hot cup of tea is a good way to spend any evening during winters. Pakoras can be made easily. Here's the recipe of potato Pakoras aka Aloo Pakora. You can use paneer, spinach, onions or any other vegetable of your choice Pakora or Pakoda

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Gram flour (Besan)
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons Garlic paste (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  • pinch Asafoetida - a
  • as required Water
  • as required Salt
  • 2 Potatoes (or onion or spinach or paneer) , thinly sliced

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pan for deep frying . Take gram flour in a bowl.
  • Add the garlic paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder, baking soda, asafoetida and salt and mix well.
  • Slowly whisk while pouring water till you get a thick coating consistency.
  • Dip the potato slices so that it is well coated. Immediately drop into the hot oil one by one.
  • Flip after a minute or two. Drain onto an absorbent paper when they turn golden brown.
  • Serve hot along with tomato sauce or green chutney.

Notes

Note
You can fry the onion roundels also like the potato slices.If using spinach put the chopped spinach into the mixture and stir well.Take a spoonful of the batter and drop into hot oil.Drain when golden brown.
