Piri Piri Sauce/Peri Peri Sauce

Piri Piri sauce is a hot sauce of Portuguese origin and is made of chillies. Ideally bird’s eye chilli is used to prepare the sauce. As I didn’t have any fresh red chillies with me, I decided to use dried chillies. The recipe I followed is that of BBC Good Food. You may want to adjust the number of chillies used according to your heat tolerance.

Instructions
  1. If using fresh chillies, roast them in a hot pan for 10 minutes.
  2. Chop the chillies.
  3. Take all the ingredients in a pan.
  4. Simmer for 2-3 minutes and allow the mixture to cool.
  5. Transfer all the ingredients to a blender.
  6. Grind to a smooth paste.
  7. If not using right away, transfer to an airtight continer.
  8. It stores for a month at room temperature.
