Piri Piri Sauce/Peri Peri Sauce

Piri Piri sauce is a hot sauce of Portuguese origin and is made of chillies. Ideally bird’s eye chilli is used to prepare the sauce. As I didn’t have any fresh red chillies with me, I decided to use dried chillies. The recipe I followed is that of BBC Good Food. You may want to adjust the number of chillies used according to your heat tolerance.

Ingredients
- 6-12 Dried red chillies or fresh chillies
- 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Oregano
- 1/2 tablespoon Paprika powder
- 100 ml Olive oil Vegetable oil /
- 50 ml Vinegar
Instructions
- If using fresh chillies, roast them in a hot pan for 10 minutes.
- Chop the chillies.
- Take all the ingredients in a pan.
- Simmer for 2-3 minutes and allow the mixture to cool.
- Transfer all the ingredients to a blender.
- Grind to a smooth paste.
- If not using right away, transfer to an airtight continer.
- It stores for a month at room temperature.
