Kataifi Rolls/Kadaif Rolls
Kataifi is a crispy roll coated with lemon-scented sugar syrup. It has a filling of coarsely ground nuts, mixed with cinnamon and clove powders.

For the Sugar Syrup
  1. Take the sugar, lemon peel, cinnamon and water in a pan.
  2. Cook on medium heat, till the sugar melts.
  3. Switch off heat and let cool.
  4. You can remove the lemon peel and cinnamon later.
For the Filling
  1. Put the nuts, cinnamon powder and clove powder in a grinder.
  2. Grind coarsely and keep aside.
For the Rolls
  1. Preheat oven at 180 C
  2. Melt the butter.
  3. Grease the baking tray with butter.
  4. Place a parchment paper on the work surface.
  5. Place a portion of Kataifi dough on the parchment paper.
  6. Spread out evenly.
  7. Apply butter on top of the dough.
  8. Place a spoonful of the nut mixture.
  9. Carefully roll up tightly to form a neat roll.
  10. Place on the greased baking tray.
  11. Repeat the process.
  12. Apply butter over the rolls. Pour the remaining butter all over.
  13. Bake the rolls for 1 hour or till the rolls turns crispy and golden brown.
  14. Take out from the oven.
  15. Immediately pour 3/4 sugar syrup over the hot rolls.
  16. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
  17. Pour the remaining syrup, according to your liking.
  18. Cover and keep till the entire sugar syrup is absorbed.
  19. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve.
