For the Meat Mixture
For the White sauce
  1. Cut the brinjal into thin round slices and marinate it with salt and pepper.
  2. Keep it for 15 to 30 mins.
  3. Shallow fry till it turns brown on both sides.
  4. Keep aside.
  5. For the Meat Mixture
  6. Heat oil in a pan.
  7. Add crushed garlic and saute it till it turns light brown.
  8. Add onions till it turns light brown.
  9. Add chilly pdr, minced meat and fry till water is evaporated and the meat separates out and turns loose.
  10. It will be dark brown in colour at that point.
  11. Now add pepper powder and tomato puree.
  12. Cook and dry it out completely, else the pie will turn soggy. For the White sauce
  13. Heat a pan.
  14. Add the butter.
  15. When it starts to melt, add the flour.
  16. Stir well till it changes colour a bit.
  17. Carefully add milk, a little at a time, stirring continuously.
  18. Make sure no lumps are formed.
  19. When it starts to boil, it will thicken.
  20. Add salt and pepper powder and stir well.
  21. Switch off heat.
  22. Carefully beat in the egg into the sauce. For the Cheese layer
  23. Mix the grated cheese and breadcrumbs and keep aside. Assembling the Dish
  24. Preheat the oven at 160C.
  25. Grease the pie dish.
  26. Arrange the fried brinjal slices onto the base of your pie dish.
  27. Spread the meat mixture evenly on top of it.
  28. Pour the white sauce and spread evenly.
  29. Finally add the cheese- bread mixture.
  30. Bake for about 45 minutes or till the top layer turns golden brown in colour.
  31. Serve hot with salad and Bread.
