Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 180C.
  2. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  5. Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or till a skewer inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean.

    I always wanted to ask a question, Y the middle portion of the cake is lil bit down if use butter?? If i use ghee or oil, this problem not persists… Any clue for that thickened chocolate sauce ? πŸ˜› I guess, u have piped it like “+”…, haven’t u?

    Hi,

    The middle portion of the cake doesn’t sink if it is made the proper way. If you follow the measurements exactly as the recipe, you should be successful. Undercooking is also one reason for a sunk cake.. As for the thickened sauce..click on the link to get the chocolate sauce recipe. Just boil the mixture a little bit more to get a thicker consistency… and yes i have piped it using the + nozzle πŸ™‚ Hope your doubts are clear now.

    Unless mentioned otherwise, Sugar is always granule sugar and then powdered.

    Did you completely cool the cake before storing it ?? The cake tends to get sticky on the top if we store in a container without completely cooling. High humidity in the air is also another reason.
