Batter Fried Squid Rings

It was one of those days where my afternoon nap got a bit too long. When I woke up from my beauty sleep, I realised that I didn't have much time left to make snacks for D. He would step into the house anytime. A panicked look into the refrigerator for some quick fix and I spotted my squid rings. I h


  • 1 cup Squid rings
  • 1/2 cup Flour (Maida)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • as required Water


  • Mix the dry ingredients.
  • Add the egg and beat till well combined and smooth.
  • Add enough water so that you get a runny batter. The consistency should be not too thick nor too thin.
  • Add the squid rings into the batter and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • When hot, carefully drop in a ring at a time.
  • Make sure not to crowd the pan.
  • Fry on medium heat till the rings turn golden brown on either side.
  • Drain onto an absorbent paper.
  • Serve hot.
