Belagavi Kunda

Belagavi Kunda is a famous sweet of Belagavi, the erstwhile Belgaum. It takes a couple of hours of stirring to make this dessert. But worth all the effort.

  • 2 ltrs Milk
  • 1 cup Sugar (+ 1/2 cup or more)
  • 2 teaspoons Cardamom powder
  • 1 cup Curd Fresh
  • 1 cup Chopped dry fruits


  • Boil the milk till the quantity is reduced to 1/3rd.
  • Add 1 cup sugar. If you want more sweetness,you may add more. Do keep in mind that we will be using the remaining sugar as well.
  • Add the curd. You will see that milk will curdle. Continue cooking.
  • Heat another pan.
  • Add the remaining sugar and heat till it caramelises and becomes brown in colour.
  • Immediately pour this into the milk mixture and stir well.
  • Continue cooking till all the moisture is evaporated.
  • Add the cardamom powder and chopped dry fruits.
  • Transfer to a greased plate.
  • Cut into squares.
