Flower Bread with Apple filling
Ever since I saw the picture of this bread on a random post, I was itching to try this. All I had was the step-by step pictures of preparing it. In spite of searching the net I couldn't get the recipe. So I decided to follow my gut feeling and experiment. I chose the eggless burger bun recipe as I love the taste of it. As for the filling, I decided to make some apple filling. Let me confess..I had a whole lot of butterflies in my stomach. I decided to make very less apple filling lest it went waste in case the bread didn't come out good. The dough turned out to be way too soft to handle. So my first attempt didn't quite achieve the desired look. As they say, "you learn from your mistakes" So the second time, I was a bit more careful in handling the dough. Voila !! It definitely got the look I hoped for. For a first attempt, I was pleased with the outcome. The next step was the taste test. Both J and D loved the bread so much that they were disappointed to find out that I had made only
- 1 Apple Grated
- 1 heaped tablespoon Brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon Flour
Mix all the ingredients together and keep aside. This quantity will be sufficient to make 2- 3 flowers.
For the Flower Bread with Apple filling.
Follow the recipe on this (http://cucumbertown.com/eggless-burger-buns-recipe-dish). Once the dough has double in volume, pat the dough down with your hand. Take a ball of dough. Flatten them using a rolling pin or with your hand and place some filling. Lift the edges and bring towards the centre and seal them. Roll into a circle of 2"-3" diamater.
Using a knife, cut the circle in a flower shape, as shown in the pictures.
Hold the sides of adjacent petals, lift and bring them together. Pinch together the dough as shown.
Likewise, form a heart shape with all the petals. Flatten the top by pressing down lightly. Brush the top and sides with milk or egg yolk. Sprinkle black sesame seeds on the centre of the flower.
Leave the bread aside till it doubles in size.
Preheat the oven to 180C. Bake the bread for about 20 minutes or till they turn golden brown. Eat when it is warm.
