Mirchi ka Kutta (Hot green chilli pickle)

Couple of weeks back, while I was preparing Green Chilli Pickle, my household help asked me whether I knew the recipe of chilli pickle made with curd. Pickle with curd??? That was news to me. She had tasted this pickle at one of her relative's place. She neither knew its name nor its preparationmeth


  • 200 gms Green chillies chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 3/4 cup Curd Beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon Sugar - less if you dont want it sweet
  • 1/2 lime Juice of

To be roasted and powdered

  • 1 tablespoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds


  • Dry roast the mustard seeds, fennel seeds and fenugreek seeds and grind into a fine powder.Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.Tip in the mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.
  • When they start to splutter, add the chopped chillies and saute till the chillies become soft.
  • Add turmeric powder and fry for a few seconds.Add the curd, salt, sugar and and the powdered mix and mix well.
  • Let it cook till all the liquid evaporates.Add the lime juice and mix well.
  • Check the seasoning and adjust to suit your liking.After it cools transfer into a clean and dry jar.
  • This pickle can be stored in a refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
