Chocolate Pots de Creme

Yesterday D was in the mood for something really Chocolatey. He offered to look up for recipes and choose 'My Challenge for the Day'. While he was scanning, I was just hoping that he doesn't choose something too complicated. I guess my prayers were answered. :-) The recipe he chose was an easy to ma


  • 1 - 1/2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1/2 cup milk Whole
  • 5 Egg yolks
  • 340 gms dark chocolate Chopped
  • 1/2 to 1 tablespoon Cinnamon powder


  • Pour the cream and milk along with cinnamon powder in a pan.
  • Heat till almost scalded, that is you start seeing small bubbles forming along the edges of the pan. Switch off the heat.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks. Take 1/2 cup of the scalded milk and add to the egg yolks while whisking continuously.
  • Now add this egg mixture into the remaining milk mixture and mix well. Switch on the heat and heat this mixture for 2 minutes and then switch it off.
  • Add the chopped chocolate and mix well till the chocolate is melted and well incorporated. Pour into serving bowls. Refrigerate for a couple of hours till it sets.
  • Decorate with whipped cream or shaved chocolate or any other way you like.
