Crispy Popcorn Chicken

I am sure there are quite a few who love to go to KFC and bite into those cripy pieces of juicy chicken..We sure do love that. Popcorn chicken is one of the must-haves in D's order. A few days back, I had tried making Crispy Chicken and it came out well. So, naturally next on the list was Popcorn Ch


For Marination

  • 500 gms chicken Boneless (bite-size pieces)
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger paste

For Coating

  • 1 tablespoon Flour
  • 1 Egg white
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • Cornflakes crushed for coating the pieces


  • Marinate the chicken for an hour or two.The more, the better.
  • Steam the chicken on low heat till cooked through.
  • Once cooled, sprinkle the flour and five spice powder.
  • Mix well, ensuring that each piece is slightly coated.
  • Whisk the egg whites along with milk.
  • Dip each chicken piece in the egg mixture and roll on the crushed cornflakes till well coated.
  • Heat oil and drop the pieces when the oil is hot and cook on low heat.
  • The cornflakes get burnt if cooked on high heat.
  • Drain on to an absorbent paper when the pieces turn golden brown.
  • You can sprinkle five spice powder or chat masala on the fried chicken pieces for that extra zing.
