Making peanut butter at home is the best option as it is easy to make and one doesn’t have to worry about any preservatives or additives in it. If feeling lazy, you needn’t bother skinning the peanuts. The colour and texture will be slightly different though. If you are not keen on adding oil, it’s perfectly fine as peanut itself will release oil after a while. The peanut butter I made had a mild sweetness. For a sweeter peanut butter, add more honey. If you are one of those crunchy peanut butter fan, take a handful of coarsely chopped peanuts and add to the prepared peanut butter and mix well. Next time you may want to think twice before reaching out for that peanut butter bottle at your grocery store.
Homemade Peanut Butter
Ingredients
Roasted and skinned peanuts- 1 cup
Salt- 1/2 teaspoon
Honey- 1 tablespoon (Adjust to get the sweetness you desire)
Oil- 1 teaspoon
Method
Put all the ingredients into a blender and blitz away till you get a smooth and creamy peanut butter. (Approximately 10 minutes at the most) Store in a dry air tight container and refrigerate.Yields about 3/4 of a cup of peanut butter.
