Salami rosettes1

It was during one of those internet browsing sessions, that I came across Salami-Bread Roses. Though the idea did ring a bell, I was too preoccupied to give it a second look. Nevertheless, the thought stayed in my mind, and while preparing the dough for Cinnamon Rolls, it popped out. So I took out a bit of the dough and made two roses. Voila!! It was a beauty !! Hats off  to the person who came up with this amazing idea.

Fried Chicken liver chilli

During my college days, I used to stay in a hostel near our college in Mangalore. Sometimes on Sundays, a sudden plan would take shape in someones head, to eat out. The next moment, we all would be out of our rooms, ready to head to ‘Hao Hao’, our favourite hangout for Chinese cuisine. I used to love their Fried Chicken Liver Chilli. This dish was so tasty that some of my friends who were not very fond of Chicken liver, ultimately ended up being the first ones to dig into this dish, when served. (more…)

Relocating to a new place on transfer is like pressing the reset button. Gotta start all over again!! I feel like Alice in Wonderland, especially when it comes to the source of my food supplies. As I slowly started to explore the markets for ingredients for my recipes, it dawned on me to try something with Beef and Pork. Getting good pork and beef in this part of the world (North of India) is certainly not an easy task. But thankfully, I was in for a pleasant surprise when someone told me that there is door delivery service for all kinds of Non vegetarian items, including pork and Beef. It really felt like music to my ears. :-P

I still remember the day, while at college, when one of our friends brought sausages in her tiffin box for lunch. Being a hosteler, getting to taste sausages was a rare occasion, one would not like to miss. So the moment we got wind of the sausages, we dug in shamelessly without even bothering whether our friend was left with any. The tiffin box was empty in a matter of seconds. Well those were the days….. :-) (more…)

I was so engrossed with some work that I lost track of time. At one point, when I looked up at the clock I realised that it was almost lunch time and I haven’t made anything. After a quick look at my pantry, I decided on making Hakka Noodles. Hakka noodles is a simple stir fried noodles. It is more of an Indo-Chinese recipe. Indian Chinese cuisine is the adaptation of Chinese seasoning and cooking techniques to Indian tastes. (more…)

After slogging for a whole day, preparing and conducting a BBQ party, one would just want to  take a break the next day. At least that’s what I badly wanted…a Break. Unfortunately I didn’t have much leftovers except some seekh kababs. My concern was that if I took a complete break for the day, what will I put on my table? So I thought of taking the short cut….make one curry with roti  (more…)

As I have mentioned earlier, I love to try out new cuisines. The first time I tasted Thai food was during our Thailand trip a few years back. Their food preparations are very similar to the Kerala style of cooking, using coconut milk, chillies, shallots etc. The difference is that they use Kaffir limes, galangal (of the ginger family), lemon grass, fish sauce and shrimp paste.

I am sure you must have figured out what today’s theme is..Yes it is Thai cuisine today. :-) The recipe I am going to share with you is Panang curry, a coconut milk based curry (more…)
